Bitcoin (BTC) reached an all-time high of $109,333 during Asian trading hours on Monday, just hours before Donald Trump’s inauguration as U.S. president. The cryptocurrency’s meteoric rise comes amid heightened optimism fueled by Trump’s vocal support for crypto assets and new market dynamics introduced by memecoin launches.
Trump highlighted Bitcoin’s unprecedented performance during a Sunday speech, celebrating broader economic gains since his election. "Since the election, the stock market has surged, small business optimism has soared, and Bitcoin has shattered one record high after another," Trump stated, reinforcing his administration’s focus on positioning the U.S. as a global leader in cryptocurrency innovation.
BTC recovered from earlier losses when prices briefly dipped to $100,000 following the introduction of a memecoin by First Lady Melania Trump, which diverted liquidity. The subsequent launch of both TRUMP and MELANIA coins has energized retail participation, further amplifying the upward momentum in the crypto market.
Analysts suggest Bitcoin's surge reflects broader market confidence. Ben El-Baz, Managing Director of HashKey Global, noted, "Bitcoin reached $108K while other cryptocurrencies have rapidly pumped on the eve of the U.S. presidential inauguration. New policies and regulators are expected to send BTC even higher this year as the U.S. economy continues to demonstrate strength."
Market indicators support a bullish trajectory for Bitcoin. BTC dominance is nearing 60%, the highest since late December, while the market cap differential between Bitcoin and Ethereum stands at a record $1.75 trillion. Year-end price targets for Bitcoin range between $185,000 and $250,000, driven by hopes for sustained regulatory support and strategic national initiatives.
